Made With Marimekko - The Ball

Two weeks ago we had an event at the Marimekko Vancouver store.
We had some Christmas munchies like gingerbread cookies with blue cheese (they looked amazing and everyone loved the combination of flavors!), chocolate, candy canes and a drink from Sweden called Glögg which I fell in love with!!! (it was like defining the taste of Christmas... hard to explain but you should try it! I know Ikea has Glögg during this season!)
For the crafts we had some paper chains for the kids with the lovely Marimekko paper... and we also had the Marimekko ball... we cut lots of fabric with seasonal color schemes and had them ready for everyone who felt like getting a nice ornament for their homes!
The one I did after all of our guests were gone is this one:

Here is a video from Marimekko on how to do the ball:

craving sweets

I do not know if it is the weather or the pregnancy… I’m sure it’s maybe both! But lately I’ve been craving sweets! So we began baking… first I prepared a chocolate cake but completely forgot about taking pictures! It turned out pretty good though.
Then some gingerbread cookies Santiago was craving for… this time I remembered the pictures!!

And then last week we had our “Christmas Dinner” with friends (it was an early Christmas because some of our friends are going home during December to celebrate with their families) so Santiago and I prepared a Tart Tatin from Julia Child’s book, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”
We took pictures of all the process but completely forgot about taking a picture of the final results! And when we remembered almost all of the tart was gone!!!
So I hope you enjoy the pictures and are able to imagine how the tart looked at the end! I’ll try to figure out if someone else took some pics before we ate the whole thing!
Enjoy!

Xmas race

December is always like a race against time... Isn’t it?

I've been side tracked all week; I know I've got to get a lot of stuff done before Christmas but apparently I don’t have time to do anything at all. I guess I’m not being organized.
Today after finally getting all the home chores done, I sat down, took a few hours to read some blogs, decide what I’m posting today and after finishing up with this I’ll start cooking and preparing some Christmas gifts.

I made a little image for you to enjoy during this crazy season! I hope you enjoy it!

Christmas is almost here!

From all the holidays we get during the year, the one I enjoy the most is Christmas... the weather (actually this time since we're leaving in Vancouver I hope I'll experience the real thing... snow and all!), the food but most of all the spirit!
Today I went Christmas craft shopping with a friend. This year both of us intend to do all our decorations... so this will be an interesting thing to talk about later. But for now I want to show you some stuff I'm planning to get for my Christmas celebrations... (this I'm buying because I believe the figures are just amazing!!!!)

I just look at them and imagine the years to come when we have kids and we keep putting out the same Christmas decorations that will always be great!!!
They are from Alessi and were designed by Massimo Giacon.
When I get some of my Christmas crafts going I'll let you know!

creative km is back!

The last three days I’ve been feeling very crafty… I’ve got a lot of stuff in mind and I believe the reason for that is that since arriving to Vancouver I’ve abandoned my creative side and I guess it’s just not working for me anymore… I have trouble sleeping because I keep getting all this ideas and images in my mind of all the stuff I’m just storing in the corner of my mind and that’s ready to be created… (I hope I’m being clear enough and you’re following what I’m saying.) I keep finding myself sketching all the time… and today during my lunch break I was sketching some stuff in my Moleskine (don’t you love those little notebooks!!! I think I’m addicted to them) and finally got a clear idea of what I’m going to do with the canvases I bought like more than a month ago!!! So when that’s ready I’ll post some pictures for you to see and comment about!
I have also been sketching some Christmas postcards and other Christmas stuff like ornaments and that kind of things… and I even wrote a short story for little kids, I’m doing all the illustrations for the story as well so when I have it ready I’ll let you know!! I’m telling you, my creative personality is no longer being put on hold… and honestly I’m VERY happy about that… I believe I’m the best version of myself when I’m being inspired.

I'm posting two images I found today that I loved!!!!! I hope you enjoy!
